Ceramic artist Agata Nowak at BAMSTOCK Festival
Ceramic artist Agata Nowak has been inviting the communities of Croydon to participate in a series of clay workshops to create flowers (and creatures) that will be displayed during two pop-up exhibitions this summer.
Firstly at the BAMSTOCK Open Air Music Festival in Wandle Park Croydon on 15th June and then at the Sanderstead Horticultural Society Summer Show on the 22nd June in Wettern Tree Garden.
‘I have been amazed by the work of participants – there are some truly exquisite pieces to show. Please join me in celebrating the creativity of Croydon’s communities that took part. I am so thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the communities of Crisis Charity, Refugee Centre, Alzheimer’s Society, Carers Information Service, Ridgeway Primary School and Nursery and Bramley Bank Short Stay School’.
For the exhibition, Agata has curated a garden full of ceramic roses, daisies, daffodils, snails, slugs, fungi and even a snowman. The pop-up garden will showcase works of 223 participants that took part in 17 workshops. All work has been fired and glazed, and each community will be represented by their chosen colour:
Red – Crisis Skylight Croydon and Refugee Centre (West Croydon)
Blue – Alzheimer’s Society (Croydon)
Orange - Carers Information Service (Croydon)
Yellow – Ridgeway Primary School and Nursery (South Croydon)
Green - Bramley Bank Short Stay School (Sanderstead)
The aim of this project is to celebrate Croydon's diverse communities and showcase their work. As well as having the joyous experience of making handmade clay objects.
The project is supported by the Mayor of London’s Culture Seeds.
