Duffus Cancer Foundation National Youth Convention
PRESS RELEASE: Duffus Cancer Foundation is a small local charity supporting young people aged 12-19 who have been affected by cancer.
Most of the young people we work with are siblings, children, grandchildren or friends of cancer patients. We work with our young people through group workshops, addressing different aspects of their lives which may be affected as a result of cancer. Our group work also enables new social groups to form and encourages positive social engagement.
Our main aims are to provide:
- Practical, Emotional and Social Support, as well as Advice and Information tailored to the needs of the young person to make positive difference to their future life and well-being.
- Community Projects (ways to cope workshops & other creative activities)
- Raise Awareness of Cancer to children & young people (through School Education Programmes/Events)
On Friday the 22nd of February 2019 we are holding a National Youth Convention supported by the Big Lottery Fund. The event will take place in Croydon Town Hall and will bring 100 young people who have been affected by cancer from across the UK together for a day of thanksgiving and fun!
This event will include inspirational speakers, musical performances, prizes, and much more. Our Convention aims to give thanks and show support to these young people while allowing them to create social networks and attend workshops focusing on well-being, healthy lifestyles and awareness raising.
Most importantly this is a FREE event for young people, due to a limited number of spaces we ask that you sign up to register your attendance at the event to secure a place. Follow this link to get your tickets now: youthconvention2019.eventbrite.co.uk.
