Talks for 2020 at the Crystal Palace Museum
The Crystal Palace Museum has announced its first events for 2020 including illustrated talks about the engineering behind Brunel's towers.
The story of both the Hyde Park and Sydenham Crystal Palace is told in a series of unique images supplemented by large scaled models of the Crystal Palace plus showcases displaying ceramics and other items including remnants from the original building. Adjacent to the museum is the base of Brunel’s water tower.
The Museum organises walks and talks throughout the year. 2019 events culminated with a walk around the Crystal Palace park on the anniversary of the great fire in 1936.
The history of the Crystal Palace is kept alive at the Crystal Palace museum. Housed in the only surviving building constructed by the Crystal Palace Company, it was built around 1880 as a lecture room for the Crystal Palace Company’s School of Practical Engineering.
