The return of Matthews Yard
The day has come. Rejoice!
From their new home at the start of North End, the borough's favourite cafe, theatre, music venue and art gallery has opened its doors at their brand new location beside West Croydon station.
Housed in the former Maplins, owners Saif and Leoni and a cast of craftspeople have refurbished the building to create a welcoming new space. It's a prime location too, with a huge sign and imposing presence on the rounded corner of Station and London roads. Definitely hard to miss.
The ground floor has been transformed into a pleasant cafe with spaced seating and a stunning collection of artwork. The upper floor is still under construction but promises to be just as stylish and a space where the owners hope to resume the activities they are well known for - including community events, art and theatre.
It's a much anticipated return for a Croydon favourite and Leoni and Saif have done an amazing job in getting the premises ready in just a few months. Check out their Facebook page for behind the scenes pics of the transformation.
Matthews Yard is open Wednesday to Sunday, from 8am to 4pm during the week and 10am to 4pm at weekends.
