Croydon has a long and interesting history.
Yes, you could browse wikipedia for a timeline and some facts and figures. But there are a wealth of books that describe how our town has evolved over the years.
People have written extensively about the history of Croydon. From the UK's first international airport to accounts of the Archbishops who frequented our town, much has been written as well as many photographs taken.
We have a crate load of local history books on our bookshelves and love to thumb through them for some nostalgia, reference or amusement.
Here are a few of our faves that provide a fascinating glimpse into Croydon's long history. Most are long out of print but you can still find copies in fairs and markets or online at ebay or other book sites. They are not particularly costly either!
