Following virtual footsteps
Footprints of London offers walking tours of the capital and is a fave of tourists and locals alike with passionate and knowledgable guides revealing a side to our capital city you probably know nothing about.
Walks and guided tours have been especially popular in Croydon. Our events pages were full to the brim during 2019. Interest and click through rates were high as people wanted to learn more about their town, take in the street art, checkout the surprise Banksy installation or better appreciate and understand the stark and brutalist architecture that Croydon is famous for.
With the COVID pandemic and lockdowns, walking tours were always going to be among the many activities that needed to adapt to ensure social distancing and safety. As a "non-essential" business, it was inevitable that they would be forced to temporarily close along with many other cultural and entertainment activities.
Footprints of London has managed to not only survive the crisis but thrive during it. They have skillfully adapted to the new normal and now offer virtual tours. And they seem to be doing really well at it.
Virtual tours combine live video chat and Powerpoint presentations of photos and video clips taken over the course of 2020, along with historical materials and thoughtful, knowledgable commentary. Thousands of people from all over the world have joined. One of the benefits, guides have found, is that it allows them to cover more ground, combining sights that are not usually within easy reach of each other.
Would be participants and guided tour fans benefit also. You no longer have to travel to London to enjoy it's rich history, architecture, people and places and partake of a fascinating tour with a real, passionate and informed guide.
Simply click on, sign up and join the tour!
