There's a Restart Party at July's Pop-up Sustainable Living Hub

This Saturday, the Pop-up Sustainable Living Hub launches its first Restart Party, where the community can bring their broken electrical devices and get free help with repairing them.

Help will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis, and will be subject to passing safety testing and a triage process.  Repairs cannot be guaranteed of course, and you will be part of the fixing process too!  Only one item per person (and no heavier than 10kg) to be fair to other people that may be waiting.  Please see more details here: Salvation Army, Thornton Heath - The Restart Project

We also expect to be able to offer:

  • FREE help with repairing your cycles (excluding parts)
  • FREE skill sharing to help you mend your own clothes, including a 1hr workshop on how to fix holes in your jeans between 2 & 3pm
  • FREE activities for kids in our Kids’ Zone including ocean-themed activities such as craft upcycling and word-search, as well as our regular eco snakes & ladders, ‘eco brick’ skittles, bin challenge, origami and Giant Jenga!
  • Lots of FREE information, advice and help from a range of local organisations and groups, including on:
    •  Locally-produced Renewable Energy (Croydon Community Energy).
    •  Activism (Greenpeace & Sustainable Thornton Heath).
    •  Laptops, Devices and Mobile phones (Clear Community Web). CCW will also be hosting its unwanted devices (e.g. laptops, phones, printers etc) drop-off point.
    •  Food Growing & Greening by Helen
    • Diet (Croydon Vegetarians & Vegans).
    •  Ethical Financial Services by Suzanne.
  • Refills of bodycare and cleaning products, and other eco products (eCO2 Solutions) - don’t forget to bring your containers!  eCO2 Solutions will also have its usual Terracycle waste drop-off points for certain hard-to-recycle items
  • Drinks & delicious sweet & savoury vegan snacks & tasters  Don’t forget to bring your refillable cup for a hefty discount!

We will be taking a break from running the hubs in August, but will be holding a Picnic in the (Grangewood) Park on Sunday 4th September, and our hubs will be back from September on the 4th Saturday (24th) afternoon (1-4pm) as usual.

Put them in your diary - Spread the word - Come check us out!

If you have time and perhaps skills you might be willing to share then please e-mail us at as we need more help in a variety of areas. Hope to see you there!
